The 25’ Shed has one bedroom and a bath, as well as a studio living area. See also our mid-sized 40' Shed, which is a 2-bedroom cottage, and the larger 64' Shed which would make a luxury cottage or a small home. These plans are ready to go if you're looking at building more than one building on a property and you want them to harmonize.

The 25 Shed has 500 sq. ft. of living space. Compared to a tiny home, it's spacious.

The Sheds are closed in using our suggested method (see "Our Enclosure Method" halfway down this page), and the insulation performance is well above code.

The wall assembly performs at  Effective R23  - the National Building Code requires Effective R17 , or Nominal R24.

The roof assembly we recommend has been upgraded to 2 layers of 3.5” QuikTherm MPI. It is awaiting testing, but it replaces our previous 2 layers of 2.5” QuikTherm MPI that exceeded code by 25%.

An outside stair leading to the second floor provides a second entrance, with a ladder stair between the two floors.

The Fish Shack could be an option for a tiny house, and would fit into the scenery as a seaside cottage. It could also be a small retail outlet, a cottage industry or an information center.

The Fish Shack is also available as Shop Prints, which are useful if you want to build it yourself.

Add a basement as in the example shown here, and increase your total living space to 1437 sq. ft.

The open concept living area downstairs has a comfortable living area with space for a woodstove, an efficient kitchen and a dining area. There is a full bath on the main floor, as well as an entry with a coat closet, and a utility room.

Upstairs there is a bedroom and a loft area at the top of the stairs, which could be used as an office or hobby area.

Inspired by Vancouver's Laneway Houses, and named for the traditional mountain shelters of Scotland, the Bothy is the flagship of our Small Home designs.

The Bothy is designed for solar, and is well suited for "off grid" scenarios.

We wanted a small home design that was compact, but still contemporary and elegant.

With 509 sq. ft. of living space, plus 90 sq. ft. of storage, the Bothy still has plenty of room for solar batteries, hot water tank, and even a washer/dryer combination in its utility room. It also has its own storage area for recyclables.
