Study Drawings

We now offer study drawing packages for some of our house plans (with more to come).

Why you might want to buy the study drawings:

The study drawings show how much room your design takes up on your lot. If your building lot is small, or in an area with lots of local bylaw restrictions, or in a subdivision with covenents, the study drawings will provide the information you need in order to make sure that your design will be approved - before you invest in the full set of house plans.

Setbacks are the most common issue on a small lot. Your structure has a minimal distance it must be set back from the street, from the sides of your lot, and from the back. These three distances are seldom the same on one lot.

Another common consideration is the distance your dwelling must be set back from the water's edge (lake, river or ocean).

In some area or subdivisions, there is a height restriction, as well.

Study drawings are ready to print on normal 8½ x 11" (approx. A4) paper.

A study drawing package includes:

  • All exterior elevations
  • Floor plans
  • A typical timber bent
  • Heights of floors, windows, and rafter peaks
  • Overall footprint dimensions including wings if applicable.

Study drawing packages are available as a ready-to-print PDF file for the low price of $40*. Your package will be e-mailed to you within one business day.
