The Greenwich Series: Traditional Cape with vaulted Great Room to show off your timberframe

Greenwich post and beam house planGreenwich timber frame house plan

The Greenwich is a traditional Cape with a classic center entry. It has a vaulted living room with a dramatic open valley (see Arlington's joinery section for details) showing off the timber frame structure to full advantage.

(Greenwich is pronounced "gren-itch", not "green-witch")

We have three versions of the Greenwich timber frame house plans:

  • The Greenwich I has a den on the main floor, leading to a deck, and two bedrooms and a loft upstairs. There is a side door with an entryway and a mechanical room - handy if you're building on a slab. It has 2723 sq. ft. of living area. See photos of a Greenwich I timber frame in our gallery.
  • The Greenwich II is the same size as The Greenwich I. However, the Master Bedroom is downstairs, with an ensuite bath, a walk-in closet and a door to its own deck, and there is no den. Upstairs are two more bedrooms and a loft. It has no side door.
  • The Greenwich III is a slightly smaller version, with 2389 sq. ft. of living area, one bedroom downstairs and two large ones above.

From a client in Peace River, Alberta, where we raised a Greenwich II for him:

Every day I drive to the house site and marvel at how your work exceeds my expectations.... Thanks again, I hope we can work together again soon.
