An original open concept timber frame house with hammerbeam trusses and a large loft /workspace upstairs

The Cape Split was designed by artist Terry Bourgeois-King, who chronicled the construction of her house on her own website, and built by Arlington Frame Company. See our Gallery for a selection of before, during and after photos.
First floor: 1160 sq. ft.
Second floor: 710 sq. ft.
Total living area: 1870 sq. ft.
The Cape Split's open, flowing floor plan makes it very comfortable to live in. Its many nice features include the solid cut timber arches framing the hall, the hammerbeam trusses upstairs at each end and the small vault over the living room. The main floor has a full length vaulted ceiling extending from the kitchen/dining area to the second bedroom. The upstairs is very light and airy with rows of windows, giving it a bit of an industrial loft feel.
