The Kellogg House, Crescent Point, Mahone Bay
The Covey Island Boatworks crew, working as "Blue Rocks Timberframes",
is well underway building the Kellogg house on Crescent Point, Mahone
Bay. We took a conceptual design by Covey Island's owner, John Steele,
and developed the plan into full blueprints with timber shop drawings.
The guys that make up the boat building crew, under experienced shipwright
and bluewater sailor, Dorian Steele, are a pretty sharp bunch, with
some having experience in house building as well. They seemed to
have no trouble adapting to timberframing, cutting mortises and tenons,
complicated scarf joints, and compound joinery of valleys and jack
rafters. The guys are great to work with - I'm sure its quite a treat
to have them custom build you a beautiful sailboat!

The timber is recycled Douglas Fir, from an old warehouse in New York
City.
